Our House League (HL) has eight teams of 12 participants in each team. The HL plays Doubles and Mixed-Doubles on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting mid-May. Two teams play each other from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm while two other teams play from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm. This means four teams play on Tuesday and the other four on Thursday. Your team will not play in the same time slot every week.
Teams play each other according to weekly rotations as set in the schedule of play. The rotations ensure all teams get to play each other throughout the season. The scores of each evening are recorded by the team captains and published on the web site.
Mandatory Evaluation
New members to MWTC who join the House League, must be rated by our club Pro. These ratings are necessary to ensure players are paired up evenly and play opponents at their own level. This ensures your House League matches remain challenging, competitive, and fun. The date/time of the ratings session will be emailed to all HL participants.
Returning members do not need to be re-rated, but they may wish to do so. We recommend you get re-assessed if you have improved your game during the winter months. Please make sure you get out and play before the ratings session! You will be rated too low if you are still rusty from taking the winter off. Tennis Canada publishes a Self Rating Guide (opens in new window/tab) which our Pro use as a guideline to rate all HL participants. We request that members are at a level 3.0 or above to join house league – this means you can serve, maintain a rally on both forehand and backhand with a moderate pace, and hit easy volleys.
